HOTEL POACHING AND PIRATING WARNING

Room “poaching” or “pirating” is a practice carried out by third-party companies that act as travel agencies, wholesalers, or destination management companies that target meeting participants to book hotel room blocks or reservations for other organization’s meetings.

Often room poachers may misrepresent themselves as the International Brain Injury Association (IBIA) official housing provider and meeting participants may be contacted by fax, email, or phone with offers for cut rate housing. The poacher might state that hotels are “sold out” and that if you do not book with them immediately, you may not get a room. If there is ever a question if an email is legitimate, please reach out to IBIA at clogrande@internationalbrain.org.

Don’t be misled! If you are contacted by anyone asking if you need a room for the 15th Biennial World Congress on Brain Injury, please get as much information as you can and pass it along to us
