Biography
Professor Anderson is a clinical neuropsychologist and clinician researcher working with children with brain disorders and injuries. She has been Director, Clinical Sciences Research, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute of Psychology at the Royal Children’s Hospital and is currently Director, and Group Leader of the Brain & Mind Research Group. RESEARCH: She has published 600+ peer reviewed papers, 6 books, with > $58M (AUS) competitive research funding. She recently received a Lifetime Research Achievement Award from the Int Neuropsych. Soc. Her research focuses on improving outcomes from early childhood brain injury by delivering effective and accessible clinical care. Major achievements: i) novel diagnostic tools, ii) child mental health treatments, iii) e-health parent mental health interventions; iv) digital health tools for monitoring and treating concussion, (endorsed by the Australian Football league); and v) authorship of the first-ever international paediatric sports concussion guidelines of the International Consensus on Sports Concussion. ACADEMIC/TRAINING: Prof Anderson is an NHMRC Investigator Fellow and holds fellowships with ASSA, AAHMS, APS, ASSBI. She has multiple international leadership roles: past president, Int. Neuropsych. Soc. Aust Soc Study of Brain Impairment; Board/ Executive member, Int. Concussion in Sport Group, Int. Brain Injury Assoc., Foundation member Int. Paediatric Brain Injury Soc. She serves on the Victorian Children’s Council. She has supervised 100+ PhD and honours students and mentored 50+ postdoctoral fellows (local and international), and many now have senior leadership roles
